A Simple (And Powerful) Way To Give Back To Our Community
At Southern Exteriors, we believe that being a good contractor starts with being a good neighbor. It’s simple: our team leads with integrity and compassion, both on and off the jobsite.
That’s why when our Office Manager, Becky, proposed that Southern Exteriors participate in an Angel Tree initiative this year, our team jumped at the chance.
The Angel Tree Program supports local children in foster care by providing gifts and essential items, with the goal that every child experiences the joy of opening gifts on Christmas morning and remembers they are valued and cared for by their community.
The Tree In Our Office: A Culture of Care in Action
So it was decided. Ornaments were hung on our office Christmas tree, each with a child’s wish on the back.
As soon as the Angel Tree went up, the response from our team was immediate. It was genuinely inspiring to watch every ornament disappear from the tree within hours! Every single person who picked an ornament committed to contributing to a part of a child’s Christmas memory.
Here’s a quick look at how the initiative went inside our office:
- Our Team Rallied: Everyone on the team, from the field managers to the in-office staff, came together and claimed every single ornament. In fact, we had so many people volunteer to participate that we ran out of ornaments! Those team members found other meaningful ways to contribute to the mission.
- Finding the Perfect Gift: Then it was time to go Christmas shopping! We took pride in fulfilling every child’s wish and going above and beyond with the hope that every kid would know they are cared for.
- The Final Step: Once the shopping was finished, the gifts were wrapped and gathered under the tree in the office. It was a truly amazing sight to watch the gifts come in. Then, members of our team volunteered to personally take the presents to the organization that distributes them for Christmas.
Again, we couldn’t have done this without Becky (who is a true rockstar!). Among all the other things she handles, she coordinated this entire initiative and made sure it all went smoothly. And of course, we’re so grateful to our entire team for their enthusiasm and participation!
